The Oklahoma City Civic Center Music Hall is home to great classical performances and concerts. Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Oklahoma City Ballet, Lyric Theatre and Academy, Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre, Oklahoma City Theatre Company, Canterbury Choral Society, Black Liberated Arts Center, and Celebrity Attractions are the eight resident professional arts organizations here. Celebrity Attractions has been presenting Broadway shows since 1983. “The Phantom of the Opera”, “The Producers”, “Mel Brooks” musical, and more have been brought to audiences in the United States in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Missouri by Celebrity Attractions. They’re extremely popular among audiences, especially with great shows such as “Riverdance”, “Peter Pan” and “Mamma Mia!” Directed by Maestro Joel Levine, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic is one of the most successful regional orchestras in America. They perform Classics, Pops and family concerts. Lyric Theatre has been performing since 1963. Their productions and programs for the year are divided into those for a mainstage summer season consisting of classic musical favorites along with modern selections, and unique productions for the winter season. Lyric Theatre consists of professional actors, designers, and technicians who work along with the best local talent. The Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre or CITY REP is considered Oklahoma’s leading small professional Equity theatre, performing comedies, dramas and musicals. The group has provided Oklahoma City and the state of Oklahoma with a distinct voice. It consists of performers from Oklahoma joined by leading artists from the American stage, Broadway and off-Broadway. A great 2008-09 season awaits audiences at the Oklahoma City Civic Center. One of the main aims of the Civic Center Foundation, a private and non-profit support arm of the Civic Center Music Hall, is to spread the enlightenment of the performing arts among the general public through the constant and vibrant presence of such performances, and educate the local youth about the important role played by arts in the community. The Oklahoma City Civic Center, whose music hall is at 210 North Walker Ave, is undoubtedly another gem of the city which visitors would want to check out. Hotels provide tours to the Civic Center locations and other Oklahoma attractions.
