ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE — Members of Oklahoma’s congressional delegation say the U.S. Air Force has agreed to create a reserve squadron at Altus Air Force Base. Sen. Jim Inhofe made the announcement on Wednesday in Washington. Inhofe says the timing of the squadron’s creation and its size have yet to be determined. He says the 97th Air Mobility Wing at the air base is one of the only wings in the 19th Air Force that does not have an associated reserve unit. Planes such as the C-17 and the KC-135 are based at Altus. Air Force Col. David Allvin, the wing commander, says the addition of the reserve unit will enhance the base’s training mission.
